New insights and possibilities
A new internet is coming

About blockchain technology - in short

In short: we use the internet to share digital information and blockchains to exchange and share value. Both are known as radical innovation, reshaping technologies and these blockchains are already changing the internet and society as we know it by redefining how we communicate value. Bitcoin being the oldest and most famous example, but different blockchains with different use-cases and large ecosystems are live nowadays. This upgrade of the internet is also known as the migration from Web2 to Web3. It creates improved digital infrastructures and brings the way we organise humanity to a new level. Koios experiments with the possibilities for education by applying these new tools in higher education and evaluate if they can indeed lead to improved (learning) infrastructures.
A connected group of different entities (ecosystem) agrees upon a shared set of rules of interaction (protocol) that enables them to transfer all kinds of digitalised value like cryptocurrency (tokens). Because this interaction is automated via so-called smart contracts, Blockchains remove the need of trusted third parties (TTP) and rearrange trust. The elimination of intermediaires increase the tx cost efficiency. In platform economies this means that by removing the continuous depleting TTP, you can now give the power and created value back to the ecosystems (new business models for empowering individuals and entities via digital ownership). A migration from centralised egosystems to decentralized ecosystems.

Examples

The internet has disrupted many sectors, and web3 is already disrupting the disrupters. There many examples, here is a short selection that might convince you that this web 3 really is out there and rapidly growing. In short:
You can now play your own bank and lend or borrow money, earn interest and passive income. But also trade on decentralized exchanges, have insurance without an insurance company, or swap assets or pay someone across the globe without one single intermediary.
Blockchains enable digitale ownership. What happens if you mix this with Virtual Reality?
And this decade we seem to be entering the decade of mass adoption via fan club tokens, adoption in fashion or play & earn games.
There is so much out there, and we are only about to get started.
"The world will be DAO & NFT" is an often heard credo in Web 3 realm. One thing that seems to be lacking so far, but will pop up and grow this decade, is decentralized applications for learning and education. Thanks to blockchains, smart contracts and tokens we can incentivize and reward people with all kinds of values to stimulate different contributions. Individual contributions that will lead to collective returns. A sustainable ecosystem, where entities exchange, extract or add all kinds of value. Copied from the best, mother-nature, applied on education & learning.
How the first steps look like? Hop on to next chapter!
